Record Store Day is back! Tres Gatos is excited to be a part of this global event celebrating local record shops worldwide by featuring hundreds of rare, collectible and hard to find special vinyl releases.
This year’s celebration will be divided into three Drop Dates: August 28th, September 26th and October 24th.
On each Drop Date, Tres Gatos will be holding a socially distanced sidewalk sale out on our patios from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Additionally from 5 p.m - 11 p.m. we will be offering curbside pickup, as well as 30 minute shopping appointments in our store for two people at a time.

The Best Reggae of All Time
We are so thrilled that the next JP Sings is 420 Plus One: Reggae, Ska and Dub, coming to Tres Gatos on April 21st at 8pm. To get you guys inspired, we're sharing the incomprable Mojo Magazine's list of the best reggae albums of all time!
Neil Gaiman Talks About His New Book, Trigger Warning
Neil Gaiman is a literary legend, winner of the Hugo, Nebula and Bram Stoker awards, as well as the Newbury medal. His books are frightening, visceral, grim and beautiful. And because of his marriage to iconoclastic Boston musician Amanda Palmer, he's around the Hub alot. He talked with NPR about his new book, Trigger Warning, last week.
Album of the Week: Death Cab for Cutie Kintsugi
Indie rock legends Death Cab for Cutie are back, minus(for the most part) Chris Walla, with a new album, Kintsugi. The production is lush, the hooks are pure power pop, and the heartfelt earnest lyrics are as ripped from the pages of an affected English major as ever. "No Room in Frame" is classic Death Cab at it's best; "El Dorado" is arena indie pop of the highest order. The band has matured, and they haven't softened at all. Ben Gibbard's sweeping romanticism and quiet desperation is in tact, and thank goodness. The vinyl, CD and cassette tape(!) is on sale at the record shop at Tres Gatos. You can read Rolling Stone's review here.
Album of the Week: Mountain Goats "Beat the Champ"
Leave it to the Mountain Goats, hyper-literate, genre-defying and utterly iconoclastic, to make a concept album about old-timey wrestling. It's clearly a passion project of leader John Darnielle, and he emotes, squaks and growls his way through a unique and strange album telling stories of lonely fighters on the road, blurry local TV broadcasts, and high school gyms and murky back-rooms of a disappeared America. The album can be very soft and tender, and also loud and full of horns and guitars. It is truly something special. You can read Pitchfork's thoughts here.
